Guernsey in Bloom - Community Awards 2024
Floral Guernsey is a charity run by volunteers that promotes enhancements of the Bailiwick with the aim of ‘Creating Islands of Flowers’.
We organise competitions and other events that rely on participation by you, members of the public who have an interest in living in a pleasant environment.
We also aim to make the islands more attractive for visitors, still an important part of our economy.
These Community Awards are open to all individuals and communities, a chance to recognise outstanding people and features.
All entrants will receive an invitation to our Award Evening at Les Cotils, Thursday 19th September.
Trophies will be presented to the overall winners in each category.
Judging will be in the first week of July. You will be informed of the date and time in advance.
The key elements we will be looking for are:
v Horticultural Achievement: using plants to create enhancements for decoration and/or for environmental benefits. Every plant planted and maintained helps improve our environment; we are not expecting the Chelsea Flower Show.
v Environmental Awareness: preservation of biodiverse habitat, promotion of schemes and practices that help protect wildlife. Cleanliness of public areas, management of grot spots.
v Community Participation: we can all play a part. Focussing on plants is a great way to get people together and is proven to enhance mental wellbeing.
HOW TO ENTER (See categories below)
Closing date for entries is 10th June but earlier entries would help us with our organisation.
