St Andrew's Floral Group/GSPCA win two conservation awards
St Andrew’s Floral Group / GSPCA were delighted and shocked to receive not just one but two awards at the Insurance Conservation Awards on 15th June.
We were overwhelmed to receive the Runner-Up Award with £1000 for landscaping works in the grounds of the Animal Shelter to attract more diverse wildlife and improve the environment for animals in care. The overall and well-deserved winner was Alderney Bird Observatory, the newest and most southerly observatory in the British Isles.
But it didn't stop there as, thanks to our supporters and kind voters, for the second year in a row The Peter Walpole People’s Choice Award (public vote) and £500 was also presented to St Andrew’s Floral Group in conjunction with the GSPCA to help our 'Going Going Gone Wild' conservation project.
Ann Wragg thanked all the hundreds of volunteers and sponsors of both funding and goods which have made this huge Community project a reality. It is wonderful that so much has been achieved since the launch at the end of 2015 and the awards will help us to complete this phase of the project and do so much more to help wildlife in Guernsey. A huge thank you from all the team.
