La Tourelle
The year commenced with the construction of a traffic island at La Tourelle. When the St Peters Floral Committee first became aware that a new traffic island was a necessity, they contacted the Airport Authority and Public Services to request input into the design. Helen devised a simple scheme that would require only the minimum of maintenance incorporating a granite paved area with trough to reflect the beautiful parish farmhouses, an Agapanthus filled trench to represent the valleys and sedum carpets to mimic the cliffscapes of St Peters. The grass banks either side were re-instated and planted with crab apples. Volunteers from HSBC worked with the parish volunteers to plant it up.
